Just asking if any other members are interested in Guitar playing/collecting.I have a number of Guitars ranging from Spanish,Semi acoustic and full electric. Here is a pic of my American Fenders, they range from The 25th Anniversary on the left to the 50th model.
These American made guitars seem to be increasing in value lately and are beautifully made instruments,,,,,,,,, Stephen

Hello Hooper.

I have been writing songs for many years and of course I play the guitar. The only electric I own is a John Birch 2 octave SG 2000, I have owned it for over 25 years. It is one of 22 he made. I spoke to him prior to his parting this mortal coil, and we worked out that mine was either the very first or at least the second one he made as it has no serial number. It has the original pick ups etched "HYPER FLUX G JOHN BIRCH". He wound all his own pick-ups. I did send some pictures of the guitar to the present owners of the JB website. They commented on never having seen the bridge configuration that is evident on mine.

I sometimes blow the dust off and take it from it`s box, plug in my old Roland Bolt 60 (original valves as well!!)

I also have three acoustic guitars. An EKO (early) 12 string, a 1970`s Yamaha acoustic and a Martin CEO 111 number 14 / 150. This is the only one in the UK. (I am told, because I bought it in the USA)

I don't play as much as I used too, though I am going to the V festival this year and will take a guitar with me to strum in the evenings with a few beers. (well I will be drinking the beers and using a plectrum!!)

Nice to see such fine guitars. good collection you have.

Regards

I must comment that from personal experience "Spock" is very modest about his guitar playing abilities and his songwriting. We spent a day visiting at my home and he impressed both my wife and I and we had a most fun time. A very good natured fellow..always welcome in our home!

I love guitars..the prices on pre CBS
fenders are nuts though..

I really like Rickenbackers and Mosrites (the Ventures!)

I have the remains of a Rose model Rick 330 triple pickup model smashed by one Peter Townshend in 1964, displayed in a shadow box..i traded 2 ss daggers for it about 25 years ago..

I have a 1987 American Standard Strat, a 1984 Rick model 450-6, a Yahama accoustic electric, a Jackson and my newest is about a year old, a basic Les Paul.

In my motel buys, we found some really great ones, to include one that my son got: 1959 Strat in the original box with the original body guard that had never been played from a US Army vet who bought it in the PX in Germany and kept it under his bed for all those years and never took lessions.
My son plays in a band and teaches lessions and tried the music tours but hated flying and just couldn't stand the road.

Too late. I paid $750 (that's what the guy wanted) and gave it to my son. (I was wrong, it was a 1961-still good and worth some money) We thought we would find a bunch more, but that was the only super guitar we found. Many more in the $3000 range and a couple of super banjos, but it was a once in a life time hit. My son still loves it.

Cant really say I collect guitars, but I buy the ones I like and can afford.
And I will probably never stop weeping about the Jazzmaster I had and sold...

Mark thank you for the comments I too enjoyed your excellent company. It was that small session that has fired me up again, I will be writing and playing as soon as the finger tips cease throbbing!

Hooper I will try and find the pictures of the JB and shrink-wrap them for posting. I think one of those early Strat`s passed through my hands once. I bought it for a friend who now lived in Florida. I may call him and see if he still has it. Cool

I still have my Fender precision bass, I think its a '74. I would love to find a strat that matches it. I don't play much anymore, as grad school & having the shop eats up most of my time. But with the new computer multi-tracking stuff and programs like garage band, I could see myself getting back into it again.

Not really a big deal but I bought my Fender Jazz Bass in 2001 American made and has the case and all the stuff like hangtags, etc. I still love to take it out on occasion and play with it. Black with a white pick guard.

I thing that was cool was when we got old guitars in with my grandfather's name on the warrenty tag... 50s 60s
