I have observed pin assemblys like yours on other badges, will have to search for examples. However as you state I have not noted them on these badges. As to these badges I for one have not formed a substantial opinion. There is general concensus that there were indeed period produced badges. I have noted in the last few years a number of these badges for sale on sites. 30 or so years back I traded off a damaged example that in my opinion was a period produced example, but, no pictures and I can not recollect how the reverse appeared. Wish I had it back!Sorry, I know this is not any help. --dj--Joe

As an aside, I scouted around and located two sites, one showing two Belgien und Frankreich badges and the other showing one Belgien und Frankreich badge and two Norwegen badges. I noted four different pin mounts amongst them.

Greetings Robert! I have the same badge with the same set up as you describe. When purchased, it was attached to a rather ratty EM infantry visor where the national eagle would normally be. I assume that the vet that I purchased the hat from had done it. So, at least in my opinion, this arrangement is okay. What is the number on the back of your badge? The number on mine is 2846.
Best regards, Bill

So --- shall we see if we can get a general consensus on originality?

Hey, Ever seen one with a solid back? Not cast and very detailed. Theres a low number stamped into a little depression in the rear, 948.
Ive had it since 1991. The red enamel is that translucent or slightly sparkly type like on all of these badges Ive seen. Just never seen another one like it. I keep waiting to see another real or repro with a solid back...Opinions?
Ryan

That barrel pin closure is sometimes known as a "French clip", being characteristic of some French badges. That ties in with the district.
Here is a photo of a Gold Party Badge that had a local repair done to a damaged pin in France with the same type of securing barrel to replace the missing standard safety pin.
Cheers,
