Well, that time of year again. Off late tonight to Kentucky. A 14 hr. drive for my friends and I. Its worth it though. More museum than anything,,and sometimes you get lucky in finding something your looking for! Big Grin. Hope to see some members there,,IF Craig doesn't host his party this year maybe drinks at the Exc.Inn Lounge Thursday night?!
I'll try and get a HR count at the show as well as photos and of course private purchase..
For those going,,have a safe trip!!..,G.

Not a real banner year for HRs and private purchase..

Really bad weather kept attendance down,,,but still a great show.

Here's a shot of setup day [the real deals were done by the end of this day!]

Early HRs with the man on list and in combat were in 10k range...

MINT ,late, guy on list, no combat, not famous, a little less than 10k..

I saw a pretty worn late style, no papers, traded for under 3k.

Saw maybe 10 total there, with Andy 'Militarynut' having 5 nice ones on his table alone!
Not too many fake at least.
Saw Don Friday around noon,,he had already papered 4 rings,,and had seen twice that come to him and be deemed fake..

Private purchase, less than 10 originals. Many fakes, high prices on the originals!

*Trays/tables like this everywhere,,and like this mostly good, nic nacs for everyone,,

The biggest thing I got from the SOS was the Flu! Mad,,I've been sick as a dog since I've been back. A few other guys that went hve told me the same,,oh well...

I picked up some things I needed, a belt, some insignia etc.that I've put away already.

Here's a shot of some of the small stuff that will soon get cataloged and put away:

Nice stuff you picked up. Glad you had a good show and hope you get over the flu. I'm just now getting over the flu and I haven't been anywhere.

no, permission not really needed for photos.

Most guys are just on the hunt and don't have time for photos. OR,like me,,I look for such small things, they are sometimes into the corners of the dealers cases,, my eyes are pinned looking down into the cases while I'm walking up and down the rows. Its very hard to spot out a ring!, and there is a LOT of tables to cover!!

I did find my friend there a nice RAD ring, brass, silver wash. This one had most of the colored enamel in the shovel/swas..He got it for a very good price. I'll see if I can get him to post a photo of it here.

*ringman, the other 2 rings,,one is a present [tiny womans swastika ring] and already gone... The other is a heavy DAK with swas grount off. I bought it only because I needed good photos of the sides for the book and the price was right. If you really want to see it let me know..

*Time is short there. Your looking, meeting up with old friends, meeting new,, trying to cut deals,,there isn't time to take a good photo! We all want to,,but,,,,,,

Vinny picked up a bunch of these posters there. Old, BIG sized, heavy stock, nice and clear, great quality. Actually signed by the vet and numbered to only 500 of each. There was SS men, KM, Panzer,Heer,Luft. etc.,,ALL KC winners. I think he'll be parting with some of them,if anyones interested email me.

My friend and I both have large collections of rings. It gets very very hard to find something for our collections at shows no matter how big the show is.

We found this RAD ring and as I have 2 already this one was for him.. These are hard to find in mint condition.
Both of my examples are in only fair condition. Usually the enamel,or later paint, in the shovel is long gone and it was nice to see one with at least some of it in there.

A poor photo but the best he can do,,,

These rings will come solid silver, and brass with a matt silver wash also standard silver plate. You had the option to get it with 'color' or not...
