Never seen a BEVO runes with this type buckram backing-usually wide mesh white gauze or plain cardboard. The 'possibility' exists that an original lost it's backing due to machine-washing or some other misadventure and was re-glued around an improper backing?
The cloth part appears to be 100% original.

That type of backing is correct but not as common on EM tabs as the card or 2 types of white mesh normally found

Concur, typically seen with the white cheesecloth backing, but when these were made, no one was keeping score like we are now.

It's original. 3 types exist: white mesh, cardboard and buckram backing;

Kind regards,

For about 25 years after I first saw a bevo runic tab, all I saw were examples with the wide mesh white gauze backing. Then in the mid-
90s, I acquired one from a 2nd Armored vet, having plain cardboard on the reverse. I have since seen several others with cardboard but have yet to see one with buckram on the reverse.
The day I see one of those in the effects of a WW2 veteran, I'll believe they existed during WW2. I wouldn't have believed the cardboard version after so many years of never seeing one, unless the vet provenance element was a factor.
However, I always remain open to possibilities.
