Over the yrs we have gone from printed lists to some great photo's of stuff!

I really believe its helped change the hobby!

As they say a picture is worth a thousand words!

Makes things come alive! A think JR deserves some credit for this!

Many of the collectors have learned how to post mouth watering pics!

Some like TW and others have no clue! Big Grin

So has a good pic affected the buying or sales process for you!

Thanks to all that take pics and post!

Others need to ask! They have the goodies but won;t get with the program!

Your thoughts!

You're correct Paul, nice pictures are worth a thousand words and do make selling much more easier.

I love those Luft badges and especially those by GWL. Big Grin

It could be Hitler's own biday, but if the pic is out of focus, too dark, or not even in existence, there will not be a sale.

People want the visual in their mind when deciding on a purchase.

They also ****ed a lot of newbies and collectors into buying overhyped and overpriced daggers.

Nothing wrong with collectors posting pics of their daggers. That's great information. It's certain guys posting fantastic pics of a dagger or a certain model dagger with financial gain in mind. Get the big bucks while you have the hot dagger. If it's not hot, make it hot. Push the prices to the next level. If i remember right the the one who started this thread would post, hype, and sell. Looks like the push is now to badges.

I think Paul placed the nskk item in the 4 sale section already several days ago. and looked like most of it sold or so I thought. As to hyped daggers I know one dealer who does this with more than just daggers, rings and the works! I think that many collectors are easily drawn to the hype, given the new age web based collecting. I dont see the hype focused on say Postschutz, Red cross,SW or TENO items but they seem to sell quite well. As to over hyped and overpriced I will agree on SS stuff but its always in high demand. If TW's SA book ever hits SA's will be even more than some of the big prices you see now. I dont own the new german book yet and not really sure if it has swept SA prices along? I dont think that anyone here even the dealers who are members who post are hyping items but then thats my view. If collectors are following GDC the numbers dont show it. I have had very good luck since March with nice scores on tags, but then most could give a rats a$$ about tags anymore. Also I'll add that the gravity knife thread that was going this winter and early spring by the LH600 member seemed to be followed quite well and I couldnt sell my minty Weyersberg for 700 bucks, and the luft machete thread that actually broke new ground and revealed new unknown info didnt seem to hype luftwaffe machete prices or postings of those weapons for sale and several nice photos were included in that thread. So I'm lost as to the hype thing, I must be outta the "certian guys" loop???? Confused

Hello

The topic is posting of good pics!

I think its very important for collectors buying or selling!

Your right all my eagles were sold before
post! Never had to list them!

But when forum seems slow why not post something for fun!

Many collectors enjoy seeing stuff!

I enjoy seeing stuff!

But back to the subject!

The posting of a nice picture makes things come alive!

Doesn't matter if its a tinnie,dagger or a helmet.

Many of us don't live close and posting pics
gives everyone the chance to see something!

I got the Navy on the right from MR PVON back at the 2007 Max show, and let me tell you it was worth every penny, and I was lucky to score the one on the right from Tom J back at the 2006 Max

This one I got from Gustavo Martin, and it has surely become a high light in the collection. Mint and personalized with info and a photo. Doesn't get much better than that.

I am in total agreement with several points you make Paul! First that photos, as such, have certainly contributed to help change the hobby . . . perhaps to even attracting more new collectors! Secondly, that the quality of the photos have greatly improved and JR does deserve to be acknowledged for this. I know I have certainly tried to emulate his style of photography! Finally, I will readily admit that, for whatever reason, a good picture does make me more inclined to buy, as it titillates my imagination far, far more than any written description ever could! ~ Ian
