Hi All, I am back. I am relatively new to this board and you all have helped me tremendously in the past few weeks. I am hoping you can do it again. I was given this dagger by a friend whose mom was a USMC vet of WWII. Her husband was a Combat Inf vet of EAME campaign. This dagger came to me as is. I hope the photos are clear enough-I have been having trouble getting them resized correctly. I would like to know the "guesstimate" value of it. It is an Eickhorn with relatively older fittings. But, I'll let you tell me, as its been a LONG time since I was actively collectiong edged weapons. THANKS for any info and help you can provide. Peace, Mark

Hello Mark.

A difficult one to value due to the present market and the fact it has been de-Nazified.

I would suggest that you look at some dealer sites for parts they sell. This would give you two options.
I. Buy another Eickhorn XGuard of the same type (might be difficult) and make it whole again.
2. Add the sum of the parts together IE blade (tapering tang),Scabbard, grip, pommel and ferrule.Subtract around 20%. Bobs youre uncle you have a figure to play with.

As I am UK based a Dollar value has no relation to the current Sterling market here and the Euro market abroad.

I understand it was quite common for the returning vet to "flick' off the swastica when returning to the US. It had become a symbol of the war and most Americans were offended by it.

So, this is a relic passed down through your family.

And you want to sell it why?

Anyway, probably worth about $250. More in the Eu and the UK as their currencie are on a steep skid right now.

Spock is on the money with this one , denazified daggers are not desireable as a whole in the uk imo (price dependant of course)have a look for an eick crossguard , it would be worth it ! then keep it , and enjoy our hobby Big Grin
