Looks like a ground Rohm. Nice one!!

If you want to criticise someone first walk a mile in their shoes. Then, when they come after you, you'll be a mile ahead and they'll be barefoot.

It looks good to me, also. Although not commonly seen, the leather buffer is seen once in a great while on authentic daggers. This one shows obvious age and what appears to be mildew. These daggers did not come from the producers with buffers, but could have been added by owners to help protect the blade from moisture, etc. I would like to see the blade to crossguard fit without the buffer just to ease my mind. Based on the photos, I can see nothing to question, other than what's under the leather.

Well, the leather washer is not hiding any great gap..and the first thing that struck me with the original set of pics was that it was a ground Rohm, especially with the distortion of the spine near the top.

This dagger looks like a decent, original example. The "review" that it's fake is just another example of an erroneous opinion that could be taken as truth. You can't believe everything you read on websites. Opinions are like navels (and some other body parts). Everybody's got one.

Sorry but that scabbard is not right.
There is a way to tell if the blade is original to the crossguards. If you email me or phone me SD I will tell you how.

Is the hanger semn together at the bottom of the "coffin" below the lower loop? I strongly suspect that the top strap, although original likely started life as a short hanger.
There's some details on this that are not great. That top crossguard is bugging me. Me I would not want it.
I'm sorry.

Please take a look at the two topics on fake daggers just above this one. You will see some similarities.

Like Paul, I do not like the top of the scabbard and some other dagger details. The piece has certainly been apart several times.

I would like to see the hole on the bottom of the grip, too.

I really don't like the opening on the upper scabbard fitting.

It seems the scabbard opening is a point of contention. The "straight on" shot does make it look suspicious. The throat in the second shot from the top looks more normal. There may be a problem here of lighting, angle, etc. When the two shots are compared, they don't look like the same throat.

This is just a general question but the 4 digit number on the tang, is that supposed to be reversed,, or is the photo reversed? It looks to be a mirror photo.

Besides what has been pointed out already - I don't like the blade. Some call it a ground Rohm. But I have not seen a Rohm with those numbers on the tang. Then we have the 36 style blade motto lettering - on a ground Rohm? Then we have that particular gun-grey bland tint to the burnish. All of these point to me as a fake blade ground and aged as other examples seen coming from the Czech Republic.

I have doubts on the grip eagle and think the whole grip has been "collector distressed" along with other parts.

To put it bluntly - nice try fakers but still no cigar!

Superduke, do yourself a favor and go to Lakeside Trader or Tom Wittmann's site and buy with confidence.
These lower priced "Deal Daggers" are made to just take your money. When you go to sell it nobody will buy it.
When you buy "in-the-cold" you got to know your stuff or your cash will quickly depart never to return.
It's brutal out there.

I agree with Serge, to many weird things about this dagger.

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. And remember the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
