I've got the chance to buy this Imperial WKC Navy, but as I've never handled one before, I would appreciate any opinions and advice.

I'm told the grip is definitely ivory but have got no further information. Apologies for the poor quality pictures, but that is all I have been able to get.

I know WKC have, and are, making Navy daggers, no I don't know if it's a post-war repro.

Even from these pics I think I can determine that the grip is real ivory.
The whole dagger looks right as rain!
Patination, damastblade, all looks ok.
It is a shame to disassamble such a dagger! 1. you have to care especially for the right way in assambling it, 2. the fragile ivory grip might be seriously harmed and 3 the pommel might get an incorrect seat.
Imo never disassmble such a gem.

Hi,
it's ivory, for sure. Wotan is right with his recommendation not to disassemble daggers. In the beginning I tried to open every dagger, of course not by unsing any force. Vic explained me several times that for a trained eye it is not necessary to do that and he is right with this. However I am still curious to see what is stamped to the tang ... :-)

Thank you all for your input.I never got to see it firsthand; it was sold in an auction this morning for around £3200.
I don't know who the buyer was.
