From what I've noted over the years you'll see a dozen etched sword blades from earlier periods for every 3rd Reich example you run across. I have never been able to determine why this is the case. As an aside: These blades are etched not engraved. Etching and engraving are two totally different processes. Jim

Jim, I think we all know that. If you consider that the bayonets are all etched and still termed engraved, its just part of the hobby terminology. Ron Weinand

Ron: I know you know the difference and the reason I posted this was for some of the newer members who tend to mix these two processes up. BTW: I'm going to have to skip the SOS this year for multiple reasons and I hope you,the rest of the dealers and my collecting community friends have a great show. Jim
