Hi, I have been offered an original M36 chained dagger today and I would like to ask your opinions on what a realistic price to pay for it would be? It has some large chips on the ebony grip, type 2 plated chains, crossguards, scabbard fittings, grip eagle and tang nut.The ss button device has no damage to the enamel. There is quite allot of greying to the balde and the blade is free from damage and sharpening and has no maker mark. The scabbard is free from any serious damage and there is over 90% anodised finish left. The spring clip is lost to time on the hanger, and the chains are in good condition with no damage to them. I can not get any pictures just now as my camera is broken, but I have checked everything out and the dagger is 100% authentic! I have to move fast on this one as the guy is talking to another couple of collectors about it as well. What would you guys pay for a piece in the condition that I have described? Any help here would be awesome!

Between the grip and the blade, I think you should play it cool and let the "couple of collectors" jump in. Why buy a leaker ? Dave

Dave gave good advice.
Personally, I have a hard and fast rule that I won't do business with a seller who won't prices his wares.
