Nacho,

R.B. numbers were not used on S84/98 bayonets. They were made with S codes, names, then letter codes only.

Hi ORPO! Thanks for the response but this one is marked R.B.20 and #3192 in the 'crossguard'and marked Paul Weyersberg & Co on the top of the blade, it also has a number on the blade, unfortunately I can't get permission to make it a photo, regards.

Ah... This would be a unit marking then. Possibly a Reichsbahn bayonet but these are generally marked with RBD #. Ask if it is a commercial bayonet without any WaA markings.

I have a 1943 German military abbreviations book
and it lists the following

Rb===Civil adiministration district; government
district.

R.B===Reginental order; Horse cavalry brigade.

In my experience the German Railway (Deutsches Reichsbahn) marked combat bayonets (98K - 84/98) tend to be earlier vintage commercial examples with wood grips. Having seen multiple different markings like R.B.D., R.B. (etc). And as George commented on w/o Waffenamts.

With my recollection being that the maker of choice seemed to the Coppel company. P. Weyersberg of course made prewar commercial bayonets as well - predominately as I remember for the Reichs Post. FP

Hello, it looks like normal PWCo commercial, maybe there is RBD for Railway police, any stamps on blade spine near crossguard?

The seller tell me there's no markings in the spine. I don't read RBD but R.B.20, why it has two different numbers on crossguard & blade?

The commerzial contract of Weyersberg have some different string, Your is 17xxx range marked, so we believe 1943/44 period, the 20 is not there on the crossguard, there is R.B 90 but the D is bad stamped on the rivet area, the small number on opposite 3393 could be a postwar or late war inventory number, this PWCo string was determined as police unfortunally post 10000 number there are no police eagles in barell ring of crossguard area. best regards,Andy
Ps the screw on grips looks like removed? so its possibly the grips are not correct.

Hi Andy! thanks for your quick responses, in all can we resume that this bayo is a late RBD one? For the grips I've also noticed that they probably had been replaced with the bakelite ones, but if it was made in 43-44 the correct ones will be made in wood? Thanks again.

The 16XXX range have a red colored plastic, it would be great to look to a detail of the RB markings. The RBD is little strange on a late war bayonet.best regards,Andy
