As much as I am into the study of SA daggers and the like i never really found out the true meaning of the different colors on the Kepi crown. I assume it is in a level of rank that I see different colors on Kepis. I have seen them from the plain to black, blue, and red. Can someone explain to me the level of rank in order and what each color signifies? Photos would be great!!! but an answer would be just as welcomed. Best Larry

The color doesn't relate to the rank but to the SA group. The color was used by two different groups and to tell the difference between them the buttons are either gold or silver. For example black was used by Berlin-Brandenburg with a silver colored button and Niederrhein with a gold color button.
