Ok, first off I know this would be easier if I had a picture. But I don't. The guy came in with it, but I had no idea what it is, so I have to get back to him.
It looks like a French Gras style handle, but made of cylindrical wood instead of metal. With the no muzzle ring and the push button release near where the crossguard would be, no quillion. The blade is cruciform, but it is very flat and wide neat the hilt as well. The metal scabbard looks like a Czech one with the wide flat frog stud. it is marked like a czech one there with what could be the Hungarian crest (???)
I am thinking Hungarian, but I have no idea what model.
any ideas? Value? Thanks!

That's it! Thanks for the info. Now that I know what it is I can track down the value to make him a fair offer.
