Colleagues, Merry Christmas. On one Russian-speaking forum there was a heated debate on the originality of this SS dagger. I would like to know your opinion. How original is this dagger or not. If you allow me to express my thoughts a little later, so as not to influence your judgment. Unfortunately, only these pictures are available and I don't think there will be any others.

I'm leaning with you, Skyline.
- Flat matt black grip with no marks on it
- Perfect logo but scratch crossgrain along the blade
Slightly strange looking "I" stamp - made by three separate strikes ?

Definitely a laser etched blade, and as above the whole thing is repro, but i must say they are getting better at it these days

As well as the other comments: SS runes don't look correct for a Boker (too thin and too new), Eagle grip insignia isn't typical Boker IMO. Grip and cross guard fit isn't as good as you would expect from a Boker. Cross guard fittings don't look like they are nickel silver per early pieces. Scabbard looks ok. Perhaps a restored piece with a reworked blade?

Thank you all for responding. I, too, share your opinion that this is a copy. In the following respects. The material and finish of the hilt is very different from what we are used to seeing on early daggers. I am not so familiar with the differences in pills and eagles by manufacturer, but I think it is absolutely correct to note that they are not correct. The logo and motto are made though etching, on better quality items we would see that it is not laser, but has multiple differences. These differences can not be explained by the angle of shooting or photo quality. Since these differences have already been published on the forum where I took the photo I will duplicate them here. Perhaps, I would not have paid attention to this dagger, if I had not come across similar SS daggers of other manufacturers. From what I concluded that this is a new wave of fakes, which have become in some moments more qualitative and perhaps less knowledgeable collector will be able to buy them as the original.

Also, here is an example of a Dagger Miniature that has similar features as Boker. This miniature is not positioned by anyone as being from the period, but by the level of its execution we can judge that it is probably from the same master of the piece

Good pics and discussion Den. I’m inclined to say this is a complete fake as well.

That M33 SS Böker posted here, is indeed a higher quality reproduction.
Dangerous stuff for those who buy online and don't have a lot of experience with dagger collecting.
But it still remains far from the real deal, especially the grip and the blade.
I am sure when held in hand it's an easy job to qualify it as a reproduction for any experienced dagger collector.

They (the fakers) keep improving their product. They know the market for an authentic early SS dagger by Boker in near mint condition. Great disclosure of new product by Den, These appear to be the best new fakes out there. Appears to be a next generation of 'East Bloc Fake'.

I keep wondering why the people who make these Fake daggers don't get the fit of the grip and the crossguards correct. I mean they make the grip, why not get the fit, that is the first thing most people look for in a SS dagger. Happy New Year guys, stay safe.
