Hello guys, all daggers have started to climb in value, notably SA, SS and a few others. What is the realistic value of an Eickhorn or Alcosso in excellent to near mint condition, without hangers and portepee? Views, opinions?? cheers, Ryan

Ryan, no one can give you a proper answer as your question is far from detailed.
For example: there is a huge difference in price between an early Eickhorn Type 1 with slant grip and a later Eickhorn type 4.
Therefore you first need to say which type you want a price for....
But in general the army dagger are way more expensive compared to a few years ago.

Hi Ger I appreciage your reply I didn;t want to make it overly complicated. I merely wanted opinions on where the fair market value lies for good to excellent conditioned heer dolch in the absence of slant and glass grips rare makers imitation ivory grips etc..... Just plain common WKC, Eickhorn Alcosso etc.... I saw prices at the Max reflective of $800 and over $1000 for these common but good conditioned daggers. Sould someone visit Johnson or Whitmann or other bigger dealer sites the heer are similarily priced but they don't "sell" with a high degree of frequency Case in point Red cross leaders daggers have remained within the $1000 to $1500 range since 1995 unlike other daggers and even the red cross em they have not had any real change in value or desirability for 20 years and longer. I believe that the fair market value of an excellent conditioned heer dagger is $500 to $600 thanks again for your reply and opinion cheers and best, Ryan

Ryan for a standard type 4 by WKC or Eickhorn in excellent condition you will get a hard time finding 1 for 500 usd now a days, i would say 600-650 is more common.
For the early type 1s by Pack, Alcoso or Höller with slant grip 1250-1500 usd is quite common now.

In Europe a slant grip dagger in excellent condition will do 1250-1500 euro.
In Europe i'm pretty sure that the Heer dagger reference book that Danny and I published in 2016 got the attention of a lot of collectors and increased the demand for army daggers.
That causes higher prices....sorry for that wink

best

That is what I would do, check the websites. Dave is right. Great photos of the daggers, and the asking price. If it's gone in a week or two, that's the selling price, if it sits for month's, priced too high.
JR Meda's site has fine Heer daggers of all makers, but I do not think you are going to find a nice original Dagger that does not have any problems for $500 to $600, more in the $750 to $1200 range.
And as wee all know, a dagger that has a problem is a hard one to pick up for a investment.

I snagged a WKC Tomahawk from JR last summer for a bit over 500 with shipping. Almost jet black. I certainly didn't need it but I like the grungy stuff. Very fair deal with the nice condition......lots of nice stuff hitting the market. I've made a few upgrades in the last year. Sold some nice things also. Most of the big dealers I pass up now. Many things are sold before they hit the web based pages. The whole "unboxing" thing. I actually miss the catalog sales now. Last group I sold the young guy kept most of it for his collection. Which is ok. He is a nice kid. Bret Van Sant
