In the 1934 rank list, 4496 is Sturmfuhrer Rudolf Grün. Duty station "10 Sta."

Proceed with caution. The numbers look like one of the many period fonts which is good. The guard is likely on backwards. The grip seems askew, but maybe tightened that way.

Ignore the Luftwaffe portopee, but tell us about the ring. Post more pics if you can.

Hi Dave yes the portapee was an ad on by me for display, I purchased this one originally from paul@Lakesider many years ago.

I have shown it here previously, yes its crusty and old with nice patina, the handle has been repaired as it was badly chipped it is loose now due to shrinkage but its got the look as they say.
The scabbard is stamped 4496 and is crusty too.

Named to Rudolf Grun I have a research file on him.

The ring is my original 7.3.36 dated named to Warch with full research, kills me to say I am currently in talks with another collector about letting this one go too.
