I received this blade from my grandmother and it has C.E. Embossed on the tang underneath the handle, the etchings match, however no makers mark and it is just stamped with Germany, some help would be greatly appreciated. The pictures are to large to attach, the engravings match other Hirschfangers I have seen, and it has the number 227 stamped on the under side of the hand hoove guard piece (the curvy one) sorry I am not to knowledgeable about the topic.

Take pics on your cellphone and send them to your email, choose small size only.
After that when needed you can resize them with paint or with a photoviewer program.
We need pictures to help you out.

There's nothing wrong with it at all, it was made post war is all.

Awesome, any idea what kind of value it has as well? Sorry for the questions just wanna have a good information basis on it

Could you also give any light to why the makers mark wouldn't be visible?

Value would be around $200, the makers mark is not always on the blade, some makers chose not to do that, the blade could have been bought from Carl Eickhorn from a different manufacturer who then put the dagger together, alternatively Eickhorn could have decided not to mark their blade.

Would the value be so low due to it being post war? Or just because theres a possibility the entire item wasn't assembled by eickhorn?

It's because it is post war, not many collectors out there for tghis sort of plain jane dagger.
