Hello, out of THE book concerning german knife and sword makers, first
the mark L.H.BERGER (with additional "Behn & Co"): Purveyor to the court, Kiel. The mark was recorded on naval officer´s dirk dating from 1900-1910. Nothing has been discovered about the business exept a presumed connection to the Berln firm listed next.
The mark L.H.Berger, Collani & Co: Berlin SW68, Friedrichstraße 210 in 1939. It is assumed that L.H.Berger had taken over another independent supplier of uniforms and equipment in the 1890s, but incorporated the name in the newly constituted business.
The name has been recorded on a privately purchased Füs. saber 1860 and several officer´s swords.
Unfortunately nothing more on this firm and I personally have the feeling that the Damast sword smith was somebody else who worked for this firm.

Hello Vern, our contributions have crossed. Due to the book L.H.Berger should have been a smith but with the addition of the firm of Collani he became also a military equipment supplier. Perhaps the firm was comparable to the later "Waffen-Loesche" we know from the airforce hunting knife.

Sorry I should have been more clear, specifically the tang markings indicate a damascus smith. IDK who that is?

Sorry I should have been more clear, specifically the tang markings indicate a damascus smith. IDK who that is? I have heard that FO is Friedrich Ohlinger. I have seen on more Imperial naval blade with the same stamp. Owner of that blade is on this forum too so he might join this thread.

Yes, F.O. marked Tangs are attributed to Friedrich Ohlinger.

Yes its Friedrich Ohliger, he worked for WKC, i have a short Deluxe with the same markings and the WKC Logo.
