SO, when is a ring defaced enough to not have it in a collection?

For me as long as its a interesting piece its always viable to have in a collection.. The ring was described as a RAD ring, made of messing that had at one time a silver wash that is now gone. The sides of the band were claimed to be perfect but strangely no photo of the sides. The seller would provide photos of the sides if asked for...

- The main problem: The front/cartouche was 'denazified'. And what a job they did!!

So for many this ring is junk... But,,IF, if the sides were perfect I would be worth to study. Investigate the sides,,maybe cut in to it etc etc,, For me I wouldn't pay more than $50 for research purposes..

Well the ring went for much more and as far as I know did sell.... Hope the new owner enjoys it..

I guess it still looks like a FAD spade or maybe a foreign FAD/RAD. Not for me, but still interesting.

Mike,,the FAD spade is usually square,,,and a much rarer ring!! - This looks like the standard RAD shovel.. and although sometimes advertised as made in "Silber" and/or Neusilber I've never seen one I'd call authentic,,,only in messing with the wash... They came with enamel and later on in paint...

This one in this shape/condition? sure I'd take it but with a $50 limit only and if the sides were truly in great condition for study/research purposes..........
