I'm excited to attend the first MAX since 2019 US border was closed for most of us since I miss Monroeville and always found it to be a very practical choice since I began attending in 1994. I hope York Pa delivers, I have heard mixed thus far. I miss the glory days of pre show buzz and expectation that used to be on this forum. Also the tons of pictures posted later from those who attended. I hope to bring my cell to snap some pics for posting . The show will be bittersweet as it will be my first since the passing of Andy "Militarynut" He is missed I hope to visit his tables to say hello to Gaspare cheers to you all and have safe trips and a great MAX show experience cheers and best, Ryan

Well, I know JR scores big at the big shows, but someone must have got something this year.
Dang, I think I may have one or two of those JR.
Hope to see some pictures soon.

I have a bunch of pictures if someone wants to post em for me send me your email used to be two days after MAX there would be a ton of posts about the show, good and bad but mostly good......with many pictures posted Here are my observations I have attended almost every MAX since 1994 missing 5 including 2020 and 2021 I NEVER experienced a sub standard show til now I arrived on Thursday at 12 I expected to stay all day Thursday and all day Friday returning home to Toronto Sunday............ well I completed three sweeps of the complete show by 15:00 on Thursday saw a near mint pair of Luftwaffe flight boots for $150 owner was away at table I came back 4 times 5th time boots gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! set tone for remainder of day........I brought the most $$$ ever and spent the least........ I was only looking for one thing a nice RAD officer;s tunic..... NOT one RAD tunic of any kind NO RAD headgear at all................one brocade belt which I purchased one RAD em greatcoat.....................daggers were ultra expensive found a mint pair of heer hangers for $30 had to do a double take........ I came back Friday morning from 0900 til 10:30 and departed spoke to 3 fellow Canadian collectors ALL agreed that it was a very disappointing show one said they would not come back to MAX.............. Now I know almost everyone says "great show" sold tons best show ever these are just my personal observations and opinions. I thought 2019 show was fantastic..........................I thought this show was awful........................ I left show at 11:30 Friday morning and was home two days earlier than expected went to Civil war show beside Max before I left saw a beat up second pattern Luft dagger for $1500 !!!!!!!! owner quoted prices he saw at MAX LMAO cheers and best, Ryan

Wow,, I guess some weren't happy!... You guys must remember,,its the 2nd show at a new location..
- Many complained about Monroeville... To far,, too big ,[no way you could see every table in a day ,,or even 2.. And IF a dealer and you got that 3rd room,,, they called it the dungeon or something like that..

Last year it was a bit smaller.. This year a bit bigger.. Many were VERY happy..
- Our table I was helping at did VERY good! Myself,,I usually lucky if I find one or 2 pieces,,,this year was very good for me..

I see experienced guys like JR did very good. I saw him on the hunt! Like ALL shows all the action was on Setup/members day and the next..

Show was Thursday Friday and Sat,,,and yes Sat was very slow. The show will continue to get a bit bigger every year.. With this economy I was surprised anyone came and spent money at all! , But many did and got some great bargains..
The show is what you make of it.........

- I'm too lazy to re post the photos again so here's a link to the Jewelry forum showing tables, the crowd and the items for sale... More will come in the following days!

Ryan,, any second I wasn't at the table I was on the hunt.. Probably only saw 3/4 of the show.

- * Great photos,, thanks for posting... I met some collectors who have never been to a large show. They were speechless,in shock! They just couldn't believe what was there and the selection. Don't like a particular piece,,well there is another to choose from... - Really,,like a museum you can buy from..

Most of us have been going for years. SOS, MAX, etc. Considering the worlds economy and its only the 2nd year it was a very good show for most dealers and collectors.. From the dealers I spoke to and most collectors,,we will all be back..

My take on the max. We got there at fri before door open at max 35 people in line. Was at the show all day .In case you ask we were the one walking around with the 1919 which did sell. By noon not alot of folks there. I and the guy i was with both felt the show was just not good this year. Price on sa daggers which i like to follow were crazy. alot of fake stuff there but buyer beware. We have decieded not to attend next year we will just do the sos . from here on. So what did I buy 2 books. I know and I went there with a pocket of cash but nothing hit me right. So Please do not let my view taint yours if you enjoyed keep going. but after along time of going I am done.

I concur exactly I am driving the 11 hrs to attend the SOS instead of 7 for the MAX.............just booked the hotel I've never experienced a "bad" MAX since 1994 before 2022 for me it was historically simply a matter of which was better that year....MAX or SOS. I won't beat the horse other than to say...disappointed but many felt it was great and had a great time. cheers and best, R
