Bringing back our discussion and showing of our luft things!

As always thanks to all for making this thread fun! With out you collectors sharing
or about to share info and pics!

A big shout out to you all!

Now as many collectors might want to know!

Voo's etched blades on Lufts is well known and highly prized by collectors!

They could be marked or unmarked!

What makes them so prized!

I happened to see on Lakesidetrader a 1st Luft double etched by Carl Julius Krebs! A killer piece I might add!

So for the many real in depth collectors of these things how about your thoughts on engraved lufts!

Anyone have pics!

Ryan Sellick has that luft engraved I just posted here but I asked him to show better pics!

One more thing I hope we can discuss down the road!

Hand enhanced, head, feathers, wings, top side Oak leaves and Acorns!

Maybe which makers did this with lufts!

They also claim gilted examples are drying up!

What say collectors!

And, there are two versions of the etch on blades without maker mark.

The difference is in the etch tip, sorta like a spear head. One is plain, no added dots.
The other version has added dots

John,

I’ve got a Voos Army and an etched CJ Krebs but I do love that Klaas. Something to shoot for I guess.

I've heard of etched Klaas examples and their well plated blades. Seen one or two others but don't remember where. Always looking though.

There exist Voos pattern armys with no trademark. I saw some at the MAX in 2003.

The unmarked Voos patterns are out there but are definitely less desirable. They typically have an orange trolon grip, as opposed to ivory, as well. These unmarked examples routinely run half the cost of a marked example but are still nice enough, especially for someone on a budget.

I got a marked Army a few years ago and have been very happy with it. The unmarked are for sure harder to sell.

Great to see all those Pack logo's John, some are very rare!
Although the first style shows differences in style i more or less thought those are etch plate changes, rather then different logo's.

Thx for showing smile

and those Voos ones are beautiful, i wasnt aware of the different patterns that Voos used, thx for pointing that out.

I understand the the unmarked Voos being harder to sell!

But

Unmarked Voos etched blades were sold through distributors and uniform shops!

Did other makers use the Voos style?

John and Billy

Can the trained eye of collectors of Voos spot a Voos thats not marked?

Thanks

Yes, it comes down to the positioning of the etch template on the blade. A Voos marked etch appears on the blade further away from the crossguard (or nearer toward the tip, if you will), presumably to permit room for the Voos logo on the reverse. This makes sense actually.

There was also something I read about some years back on an unmarked Voos regarding some additional "droplets" on the etch border closest to the tip. The marked Voos patterns apparently don't have these.

Thanks pvon. The number 274 is etched on the blade and scabbard throat. I assume they are a control/inventory number (?).
The other drawers house my Heer daggers.

I am not sure. My favorites are the Heers but for the lufts, it may be the simple design that is appealing. I do like the 1st luft and sword too.

I hear you!

My favorites are the ones in front of me!

How about some hangers folks!

I spotted these deluxe luft hangers for sale! 145.00 shipped!

Very nice set! Don't you think?

Price seems fair! Not much you can buy!

They sold very fast!

Lets see some!

And as always a shout out and thanks to all!

Your pictures are really nice guys!

Engraved blades, makers, and just the detail of items is quite good!

Makes the items come alive! I know its easy to miss details when looking!

Then as you go back and look!

I say hey I missed that and look at that! Sometimes collectors miss something right in front of them!

We get in a hurry to look but don't always catch everything!

I just started going back and sure enough! Looking closer and with more detail, these items reveal more!

Imagine at a show what we all miss!

On the forum we can study a object!

Thanks guys
