Newbie. Just acquired a WKC Heer dagger with broken portapee cord and missing the metal thingee that joins the cloth suspension straps and provides a connection to the wearer's belt. Any suggestions on repairing the cord and a source for the metal thingee? The loops for the metal thingee are intact on the straps. Alas, this site won't accept my picture size. Thanks!

You can send your photos to me and I'll resize and post. Try Johnson Reference Books for the hanger parts

Dave Fox Welcome to GDC That is a really nice looking Heer dagger, what a beauty of a grip. I would suggest looking for a better portapee and hangers for a dagger that nice. Try Meda Militaria, JR will have what you need, and they are available all over. Ed

Thanks. German dress accoutrement is a tad out of my general area of collecting and expertise. Dagger came out of a thrift shop so, likely, out of an estate. Suspect the wear on the portapee and suspension straps result from drawer wear and a generation or two of kids playing cowboys & krauts.

Dave Dagger looks real nice, wish I could find one of those in a thrift store. does not look played with. I guess you could just sew the portapee cord with silver thread. The hardware for the hangers will cost you a little, so probably leave as is. Good luck Ed
