Hi people!
Haven't been here for a while, thought I might share my most recent purchase. Bought this ring from an ww2 collector in Sweden. He sold it as a "third Reich ring", but it's a Navajo ring with whirling log. Might have been used during ww2 who knows. I haven't seen any of these rings with the twisted swastika facing right, just like the swastika the Germans used during the Nazi-era. This ring is made out of coin silver.

Anyone here that got any Navajo rings / jewelry like this?

I have seen it commonly in southwestern jewelry; sometimes even with turquoise. Harvey era pieces, modern pieces, in bracelets necklaces earrings.

Even the right-twisted whirling log? Do you know how to tell if it's real? It doesn't have any markings. Did some cleaning to it since it had some greasy stains to it. I'm pretty sure it's high purity in silver, maybe .900.

Yes, even the right twisted whirling log- or rotated swastika as some collectors call it. It is true that the static swastika was more common and is also in Asian art as the Vedic symbol. But with many things Native American like arrows, whirling logs, etc - the creative variations on the designs were endless, likely due to the handmade nature of the rings and the desire by the artist to make unique pieces with familiar designs.

Not mine- they were sold by a collectibles dealer/store owner I know here in the USA.

Pre-WWII, the 45 Infantry Division used the swastika as a shoulder patch. It was changed to a Thunderbird.

That's neat! I know that the French airforce "Lafayette Escadrille" in ww1 used a chieftain head with a swastika on.

Also, the Finnish airforce used swastikas pre ww2.
