Most dealers I spoke to that went to the SOS said no Canadians, no Europeans, and they had the best show in years! Buyers the same,,all said they got great stuff at great prices...
So, we have the MAX in about 3 weeks... EU can't come, North border closed on and off.. Some regulars I heard cancelled but for the most part, the dealers and buyers can't wait to get there!
- Anyone else from GDC going to go??

I had a great time at SoS and am looking forward to the Max. I’ve been to shows at the York complex … the facilities are nice, but I prefer Pittsburgh area over York … nevertheless , it should be a decent show ! Dan

Ed, I'm with you buddy... But that is what the dealers and buyers are saying! , I don't understand it either. My buddy just gave me the new Military Trader and their big report on the show is the same,,great deals all around! Maybe the GDCers going will get the same great deals all around too!
Zook,, I liked the venue at Monroeville,,,but the surrounding area has been,,how can I say it,,, used up [just my opinion]..... Hopefully Yorks area will have some interesting surrounding area and the great venue...

I wasn't a "big player" I would spend $0300 to $5000 and I would sell some good top end items, none of the Canadian dealers can attend I also loved Monroeville and I enjoyed the nostalgia of attending 27 previous shows I hope it is a very good show, prosperous and safe for ALL that attend. I am certain that spending will be healthy due to the lockdowns and inavailability of premium items for the past year. People are hungry.

I’ve been at the York venue. It’s ok. It’s really just one sizable rectangular room. It’s not a big town, so it’s not too far from the little arts/downtown area. The main drag for food etc is a couple miles away on the main highway through town. The traffic by 81 definitely reminded me of monroeville traffic- less volume though, smaller town and metro area. Monroeville was great when the mall was alive and the miracle mile was too. York is smaller, but personally I like the area -but not for any convention show reasons. My son wrestled in a national duals tournament there last July, and I felt it was entirely too crowded especially during covid. Right now, for those out of state, here is some important information especially if you are concerned about covid or immunocompromised: Pennsylvania is in the midst of the delta surge. All but 59 of the 474 Pennsylvania public school districts opted to start school this year (about a week or two ago, depending on district) with no masks and no restrictions. 30 of the 59 districts who opted to begin the year masked were all in one of the 67 Pennsylvania counties- that would be Allegheny (where monroeville is, ironically). So for the rest of us, the surge began with schools opening- and the governor feeling the need to step in after only a few days to respond to the numbers of rising cases to enforce a mask mandate for the other 400 plus districts beginning today. I have personally seen near 20% of a district either positive or quarantined in only 7 days. These numbers of course echo through their communities and their counties. Again, I’m adding this post solely for the purpose of helping the visitor make the most informed decision based on their own ideals and reasonings as to how to approach the show. Fact is- many of our hobbyists are elderly. I’d appreciate the information myself if I were also. Attached are the numbers for York county over the past 30 days.

Reluctantly, I have cancelled.
Many MAX attendees are from the Eastern seaboard - MA,NJ,NY,VA,FL - and the rust belt - WI,IL, IN, OH and PA, which are states with high infection rates. I've had both shots (Moderna) over 6 months ago, but the new variants concern me ... as well the unvaccinated and the concentration of attendees in just a few venues.
I hope I'm wrong in my concerns and that it is a great show.

Military Trader had a good write up on the SOS, the buys, Covid, etc.
My wife is on the NYC task force. Belongs to the largest private hospital in NYC.. Yes a lot of cases,,99% are unvaccinated..... Same reports from city hospitals and the Tri State area...
- * If you don't have your shots,,maybe stay home...
Also - seems to be 3[?] shows going on that weekend. The MAX,, a real GUN show [guns],, and something else [?]....

I've got $40K to spend but can't, due to the stupid rules from the American government, I missed my fisrt SOS show and this will be the first Max show I've missed in decades. Good luck to all the attend.
