Dear Mr. Murray,

Thanks for the email and yes, once and a while we see a bayonet with an original
RLB insignia, period installed in the grip. Most of the ones we see, however, are
post-war glued-on or whatever. In the case of the example you show, this is not an
RLB grip insignia, but rather is an RLB lapel pin - not something that I believe would
be used. Chances are it is most probably glued into place. The original grip insignia
has two pins behind it which should be found on a bayonet with holes drilled in the
bayonet grip and the pins bent over the back of the grip. An X Ray machine will reveal
the method, if you have a friendly dentist that won't mind X-Raying Nazi things.

Anyhow, I hope this helps.

Cool looking thing. Emblem looks like it was applied well,, but a real pin and a decent mill and that same fit can be done.....

That emblem looks rather small compared to the ones I've see that were believed to be period. From the shape, I'd guess that was from a stickpin.
