On another forum they were discounting a piece because it was marked 925. True it might have been bad. But don't let that mark scare you.

Early 3rd reich late 20s, early 30s some firms used 925 on their pieces.

Here's a site you can go thru and you'll see a few that used 925:

Hi folks,
Here is a ring with a 925 mark. I have had this one for a long time.
Cheers,
Stephen

Here is another one, but with a 935 silver mark. I think this is a prewar ring.

Nice!, I like the both of them!

The Police ring is jeweler made ring.. Since the Police had no official, ring nor have I ever seen only one PP ring is was difficult for them to acquire a ring for themselves.
So,, a creative jeweler would do something like,,,use a high quality silver blank. Find a police emblem to affix on. This case they used a Police ribbon bar device and affix it to the ring and ,,,there you go a nice ring. .

The 2nd ring I believe to be a early Patriotic type ring.

* Oh,,and the .925 marking in rings.. IF a ring was made in America we didn't and still don't ,use a .925 stamp. US made rings and things are marked 'Sterling'..
England had their own system. Thru the years its usually 3 marks, the 925 used in conjunction with a date and maker code with it,.. So a solely marked .925 ring is generally going to be from either West or East Europe,,,,or,, a fake..So lets be careful and really scrutinize these rings when we're going to be spending our good , hard earned money!!

Thanks, Gaspare. I thought that might be a Polizei eagle. I have another couple of what also look like Polizei rings. Similar pattern with the gold-coloured eagle on a silver ring, but not identical. One of them is huge. They have 830 and (I think but it is quite worn) 800 silver marks. If interested, I can post them in a different thread.

Thanks again,

Stephen

Stephen.,,
Of course! It's always nice to see something to view.
The 'regulars' too, they might not come out and say it but they too like to view..

We also have many 'lurker' members. members that never post, answer, join in, on any topic but love to see everything. I get many emails from guys asking this and that and I'll say 'hey put it up on GDC'. They won't,,some worry their opinion isn't important,,ALL opinions here are important!
Some there is a language barrier ,don't worry about it,,I'm just barely fluent in American myself grin
