So I dont do alot of buying or selling anymore. I stopped setting up at shows after my daughter was born but I do now and again buy things. Was at our local Dakota Territory Show today and passed a few big collectors who rarely give me the time of day. The bitch more about not finding good stuff or making enough money. They obviously dont do it cause they like the stuff! So I see this type 10 Japanese flare pistol. It's in that untouched state that is being batted around in the dagger area above. What I have learned in 35 plus years is to look at stuff. The type 10 was of late war construction. But what floored me was the number! The total number that floats around is 8300 total made. This is number 8264. As close to the end as I'll ever find. Laying on a single table in Grand Forks ND. The guy had no clue what he had other than a type 10. When I collected guns getting close to the end run or end of a block of guns was a thing. Or even the start of a block of guns. Well anyway I'm sure my excitement pales in comparison to other things but.... 36 away from the current known total is a real deal for me!

A guy got back at me said on the flare gun forum, no doubt a forum exists for everything these days! Current high number is #8466. So the 8300 number is a bit dated. Yeah the ones with a safety are early and very few. Command a premium for them.
