Picked this one up at the last SOS show, Henckels pattern 4460, a beautiful maiden hair damascus pattern to include the grip guard, it does show just some faint sharpening but it isn't too bad, my thanks to Ivan for selling this one to me. They made these from the Imperial and up through the Weimar period so its difficult to tie this one down to a specific date, no matter, it's tough to find these knives in Damascus.

Thanks Gary,

Very cool knife and one that might really be used.

What does the writing on the blade say ?

Impressive bowie knife style edged weapon. Never having seen one with a damast blade. A real treat.

Gary,

Love the damast pattern on that guard, it's really a beautiful piece all around and the maker is desirable. Well done my friend.

Gary these are top of the bill, but we both know these pics dont do them justice, as one is very familiar to me ;)
They are true pieces of art and realy one of a kind.
These pieces belong to the best what Solingen produced in the days.
I would like you to make a new post to highlite these short damast Henckels HF, with better pics as for the pieces of art, what they are, they do deserve that.

I found this on a popular auction site that I visit everyday:

Sold $328.00, 11 bids, May 28, 2023, Item: "1920s J. A. Henckels Stag Handle Antique Knife -Damascus Blade, Companion Knife?"

The knife is 8" overall with a 4 1/8" blade.

My F. DULA Waidblatt arrived on May 26, 2023, and I somehow missed this little beauty.
