Hi guys just a couple shameful fakes recently sold.

This one on WAF. I'm not a member there so can't post on the for sale topics OR the follow up ones..
Someone lost their hard earned money on this baby.. A horrible fake. You can see the fault line from the rubber mold,,the buring faults, lack or detail or any kind.. Shame shame!

,, another baddie! I've actually seen this 2 times sold in the last 6 months or so. They must have made a few [?] so be careful... Really,,be careful of ALL NORGE rings.. They are very tricky and you got to be on top of your game to recognize the fakes and authentics..

As of a few years ago these enameled Norwegian flags you see on the cartouche were still for sale!.. So very easy to dummy up a ring.

This one has a poorly cast ring. The Flag affixed to front and some newly done engraving..

Engraving wears. We see it in the HRs. It gets softer, even toned etc.
This clearly shows a new engraving.. I would stay clear of rings like this. Stay with the standards.
There are members here who their main area/focus of ring collecting is the Norge ring. Check theirs,, - And,,check for all the signs of a cast ring , poorly done finish etc. You would want a nice ring if you were paying for it right! Same back then and even more so!
Happy hunting guys.......

Gaspare hello! I'm not agree with you. This type of ring existed. Yes, he looks awful. But there were such rings.

may be,,,but the photo shown of the Norge 1940 done in engraving is a postwar piece..

No doubt examples similar with just the flag existed. But as posted these separate flag pieces were available just until a few years ago. Just a warning to collectors......

These two rings with the flag and coat of arms are mine
I bought them at the flea market with an interval of three years
Since when did they become post-war?
Sometimes pride that a person knows everything does funny things with him
We must respect other people and their subjects.
All good

I can only refer to the one 'Norge 1940' ring: Same question to you friend,,why is it from the period?

A Norge 1940 ring like that was auctioned beginning of Oct... Then another was offered for auction a week ago. One had engraving in the band the other didn't...

You don't have to be a expert to see the ring was engraved recently.. Also it is a cast ring... The ring was made after 1945..

All my message is,,,that Norwegian flag emblem was available to buy a short while ago and could very well still be available to purchase.. A warning for collectors that's all.

Give a link to sell the rings you are talking about.
I saw at least a dozen authentic rings with soldered emblems of the time.

Here's other views of the same ring and with all due respect for owner opinion, casting flaws are visible all over the band.......and on cartouche as well.

Can the silver hallmark be verified? Seems like a logical start if there is a disagreement. I know some marks have been faked, but those fake marks if I recall were either shown to be cast in, or somehow arranged differently than the original marks. If they are different than the original marks altogether then of course we would know that much for sure

Sniper / Powar.. I will repost:
"I can only refer to the one 'Norge 1940' ring"

Flea marks, dug, how many years ago,,none are provenance... I will repeat as we do have a large international member ship [ this topic alone we have Americans, a German, Russian, Italian!!, plus whoever is looking in! ] So refering only to the Norge 40 ring,,,it is easy to see it is cast and also engraved recently..

Don't know or have seen the other emblem ring or the Narvic. They could very well be authentic and welcome photos if you would like to post .

Thanks for all posting/responding here.. We are collectors here. Some with much experience,,some with little. Main thing is we look out for ourselves.. Keep on the hunt guys....,G.

there have been some good copies out there,,,and some poor.. Here a Pirate Skull & Snakes.. Poorly done, waxy, lack of detail and definition etc...
But could be 'aged' or made in to relic form claiming to be dug to hide the lack of details, faults etc..

. Be careful.........

another fake.. Looks like from the same E. Europe maker..

The 'Grimacing Skull'. It is a real pattern. This one poorly made probably wouldn't fool a ring collector.. Besides the poor detail, shallow detail, casting flaws, if you look at the inside band shot you will see a very thin line on each side. That is from the wax mold...

Problem is that sometimes when they do not sell the next move is to make it in to a 'ground dug' piece or 'relic' ring.. Be careful guys....
