I strongly believe in the next future SS rings of the same pattern and fully enamelled will pop up, so better to keep them posted for future reference.
As a note someone paid 4500 $ for all these rings, so with a little investement to make some repro, he will be able to get his money back with a good profit.
So look at them, keep memory and....be careful.
Ric

Ric Hi Ric, Nice rings. Do you believe that they are real? I was curious about your use of the word, 'supposed' in the post title. I have one or two similar to these patterns, have had for a long time. Presumably we can at least verify if Walter Ahne was a bona fide jeweller/engraver in wartime Berlin. Perhaps the guy who bought them is a genuine collector like us innocent souls. Perhaps not... Cheers, Stephen

Stephen,
I can't tell for sure about rings originality without checking them in hands, but I sincerely doubt they are peiod.

Ric Thanks Ric, When I looked at the first of two close-up photos you provided, I noticed that the left and right runes on both rings dont even match. Poorly made. Stephen

same junk from about 10 years ago. [even think the box photos are the same]. Except for 1 or 2 they are fantasy patterns. Poorly made, poor material etc. - Period stamps can be copied and are all the time. Period jewelers either commercial or retail easy to find. The trade guild booklets and catalogs are full of them in the back pages...
That price would have been a steal.. A 'Blackie' like the black enamel 'Skull over SS Runes' ring goes for close to that much,,same for a hunky Runic Blackie...
Can't imagine someone making that kind of purchase or investment without checking... It might have not even really sold. Maybe made to look like it did and then a few months later the rings will appear separately..
Good reporting Ric ,and guys for the comments,,,yeah let someone else get them....thanks , G.

Agree with E and G, in that it is clearly just junk and that it is possible it was just removed by the seller under the guise of being sold. Extremely irritating to all collectors when junk goes out as authentic. I believe there is a place for reproductions, always has been - from museums to re enactors, but when the line is crossed- that should be offensive to everyone.
