Never seen one marked brigade 77 before. superb

The dagger look fine. Concerning the inscription: Inscriptions generally are a mine field. On the other hand there ARE period done inscriptions. The photographs are less detailed to see what really did go on. But what I can see in these pics it looks to me like there have been first other letters on the place of the two "D"s (the left one could have been an "l". the right one I cannot recognize), on the other hand it looks to me like a non german speaking person with no german grammar knowledge did the inscription.
It should also be checked if "Br." has been the correct abbrevation for "Brigade" at these times.

I believe that the full inscription would read :? zur Erinnerung an Deine Hochzeit von Deinen Sturmkameraden des Nachrichten Sturmes 2 Brigade 77 22.9.34? , or in English ?in memory of your wedding from your company comrades of signals company 2 Brigade 77 22.9.34?.
Interestingly, I looked in my copy of the SA Standortverzeichnis for 1935 and found that SA Brigade 77 was a component of SA Brigade Bayerische Ostmark by that time- it must have been transferred from SA Gruppe Franken in late 1934 or early 1935.
I can also tell you that the German is absolutely correct and abbreviated in the way I would have expected a German to use at that period of time.

So I do not want to have a long discussion here on the German grammar, as I barley know Canadian Grammar!!!
I just add the additional info for anyone who might happen upon this thread.

Hello Paul, I think you do know me enough that I do not any judgement lighthearted and I NEVER want to tear down a good item. What you did get to know about the "full length" of the inscription is correct. I would read it the same way.
BUT as said, there ARE SEVERAL grammar errors and it is NOT absolutely correct! Believe me, any 1st class pupil would not write this incorrect way and again I assume that this inscripton was not done by a german speaking person.
And -please- take a look at least at the second "D", there for sure another letter has been inscribed.
To my best knowledge "Brigade" has "Brg." as abbrevation or "Bg." and not "Br." but I have to admit that I am not totally sure IN THIS CASE therefore I did recommend to check it.

Ok, I only recommended to check "Br" and it seems to be right but that does not change the grammar errors.

As exemplified by early period engraving "V" shaped hand engravers left visible traces of how they carved away metal to form the engraving. Maybe it's just me, but the engraving here look to me like a spherical cutting tool was used with some touching up at the corners of the characters. So for me any grammar errors would take on added weight in trying to tell period work from postwar. Best Regards, Fred
