Tunisian design based on the hallmark of a crab or a cow as I have come to learn. Deep patina nice size almost a 10. Wears so comfortably! Loved it as soon as I saw it.

Thats a nice and unusual ring, Mike. Out of interest, how do you know it is a DAK ring? There are no German insignia. Is that Arabic lettering?
Thanks,
Stephen

German and allied troops bought these in the markets- so yes it could be allied; I do think it is an earlier one largely as many axis and allied troops once established certainly liked their symbols and or language on the rings -and the sellers- who were more than happy to oblige- had adopted the quick learning curve. I see that DAK is usually 41-42 and allied pieces obviously later. But of course it is only my opinion of course anything is possible.

dak rings are usually dated 1941, I have never seen a genuine dak ring with a 42 date. mike

Might have been a bad ring not a bad date. Tho as rare as 42 is that might have aroused suspicion in many including myself as anything rare or different deserves a close look especially if it?s a great price I have found there?s more ripoff artists in this damn hobby than legit collectors not saying you mike but sooo many others makes me want to dump it all I swear it

To clarify, DAK (with palm and swas) rings are dated 1941 as the year the Afrikakorps was formed, not the date the ring was made. On the flip side, most allies african campaign rings were dated to the year the soldier was there. Not saying there couldn't be a legit 1942 (or 43) DAK, any things possible. But that's not why they were dated that way.
