I was working on my David Evertz tag and info. I'm sure you have seen Carter's reference Sword and Knife makers 1850-1945. he lists a AES SA that was listed in a wittmann offering # 30 pg 298. I dont have that one maybe someone here does? I know you need to see the dagger but just a FYI. If you already know all this stuff just slap me around and i'll crawl back in my hole Bret Van Sant

Bret,
AES did not make early SA daggers as far as I can determine. Mike and I went over this and others* before his last MCSAR and he agrees. Maybe someone can turn one up, but until then ...

I'm tempted to find a copy but I know that Mike and Dave needed to see the dagger to add it to the list. I know Anthony Carter was very detail based in that book,he did miss a maker mark that I know of but not dagger related so as with anything mistakes are possible. i think for the hell of it I try to find a issue 30. i always enjoyed the offerings anyway. Way to be persistent Bret !! I will also try and track it down- What we are concerned about is that it could be a RZM that is being misinterpreted as an Early maker- Same also goes for the Bruno Heimbucher (there was no picture of the blade on that one) Thanks a lot-Mike

Tracking daggers through old lists is not very rewarding.
Several years ago I visited Tom Johnson and he was kind enough to let me dig through his copies of old JRB&M catalogs. I was looking for unknown (to me) SA and SS makers. Same on visits to Tom Wittmann.
The challenge is that the only info is usually what is on the list. Many lists predate digital photography or images were not kept very long after sale. Dealers with high sales volumes seldom remember individual daggers unless were very expensive or unusual.
Good luck
Dave

Bret , TW #30 Winter/Spring 1996 had 252 pages there are two AES S/A's listed and both are RZM M7/85 pg #73 ,81.There is one in list #31 Summer/Fall 1996 but this is the same one on pg.81.Checked both Offering even "Late Additions" and there are no S/A that I could find with the AES m/m other than RZM if that is what your looking for. P.S. thanks for having me look at all the different photo's and prices from then.
