Hello all, I'm trying to get some extra cash for toddler related expenses and another forum suggested I come here and ask for help, below is a link to an album, and any suggestions on what might be reasonable to ask for price wise would be greatly appreciated. I got it from my grandfather who told me he got it while he was serving in the British army in WW2, I'm fairly certain it's at least authentic. https://imgur.com/a/b659uZu

Hi, It's a first pattern Luftwaffe officers dagger and has never been cleaned from the look of it which is good, the blade is not brilliant but not too bad. I can't see a makers mark on the blade unless it's on a side you didn't photograph? Does it have a scabbard? If not then it's probably worth about ?200 to ?300 pounds with a good scabbard maybe double that or more. That's about the best guess I can give but more knowledgeable collectors on here may give you better information than I. Cheers, Andy.

Hello Dr.Pestilence, first let me welcome you to the forum. The dagger you do show us is a late socalled first pattern luft dagger, better named "Luftwaffe Borddolch". The material of the grip fittings is a zink alloy which might become brittle so please be careful about it?s wings. It seems to miss some grip wire (mostly a single, smooth strand above and another one beneath the twisted strand). It is hard to put a value on such item but 200-300 USD (not GBP) would be my guess. Regards,

"Never look for sqare eggs" as a late owner of an original FHH-dagger used to say.
