Doesn't matter if it's good or bad... this is not collectible for the vast majority out there in GDC land...it is in really bad shape, save your money for something a lot better condition.

Ok, thanks! I agree its condition is very bad, but in my opinion the price is right: about 250 USD. Do you think it would be a good deal?

Like John said, not a great collector piece.
But at 250.00, I'd buy it as my best steal, for the future. Who knows what is going to happen in the next ten years.
Looks like a good grip free of chips, a nice crossguard, and a scabbard free of major problems.

Ok thank you, then I'll just go for it. Prices will certainly go up in the future, these items will become more and more rare.
Best regards,
Dieter

Dieter although this WKC Type 4 is a textbook dagger its like John stated: condition wise not interesting for blades collectors.
Daggers in this shape will not increase in value or rarity.

You better listen to the advise of seasoned collectors here, or you will be stuck will a dagger no one will be interested in.
Best

Just to make myself clear.
I did state this is NOT a collector grade dagger.
It does seem to have a nice aged butterscotch grip free of chips. Nice crossguard with some lifting on back, and a problem free scabbard.
The blade is well spotted. Could clean a bit, not sure.
Almost every dagger I have is NOW worth less than it was 5 years ago. Even at the SOS, 250.00 wont buy a boat anchor dagger, but try to sell a really nice.
I still have this place in my heart that the future will BE BETTER, and there will be new collectors, at least I hope, that will be looking for there first dagger, and can't spend a wad.
I am not rich, and think a solid example of a Army dagger for 250.00 is not awful.
One is better off spending the most one can on quality daggers, but a little project once in a while is ok for me.
Thanks
And have a great Memorial day

Thank you Gerrit1963 and ed773, it's indeed a bad idea to buy a dagger in this shape, and in which perhaps nobody will be interested.
I'll contact the seller, and if he's willing to sell it for $150 or so, I'll take the risk.
But at 250, I'll be better off saving my money for a better quality dagger.
Best regards,
Dieter.

Hi Dieter,

I must say, I don't agree with some of what is said here! I've bought several army daggers in this condition and use AUTOSOL blade polish on this type of blade and have had very good results!
If you're still not gonna purchase this dagger, then I'd appreciate forwarding the sellers details and I'll purchase it at that price.

That is what I was trying to say.
If a Army dagger with no REAL problems will never be worth $250.00, because it is not mint, no wonder this forum is dying, or should I say DEAD.

I guess that if you guys are willing to pay $250 for this, then it is worth that to you.

If you are buying to resell and make money on it, then good luck to you as well.

Just what are we to do with all the surviving historical pieces from WW11. If not in real nice condition, just throw them away?
I just thought there would be someone someday that needed a first starter dagger. Guess not.

Hi, I completely agree with everything you say about this dagger and others like it, some folks can't afford to lay out for the really nice pieces even common Army daggers and at that sort of price I would have it and save it from further deterioration this dagger is still a piece of history and as worthy as any other I would give it a place next to any other much better condition piece. Not everyone is interested in investment or resale values but more in the item itself and would just like to own a piece of history that they can comfortably afford and to be honest I find it discouraging to new collectors or those on a tight budget to be told that something is just not collectable or of the slightest interest to the (Serious collectors!) save more of your hard earned money and buy better, well we could be talking twice or three times as much money and for some that's just out of reach maybe later they will be able to afford better items. All I am saying is maybe the serious collectors and the guys with plenty of money could be a little more encouraging or as has been said these sort of collector community's will just become exclusive clubs for the wealthier and very experienced collectors and will simply be places to show only the best with all other lesser pieces shunned as unworthy rubbish and no one will show pieces like this Army dagger for fear of being made to look like the poor cousin. This is not a rant or a have a go at anyone sort of post just something that I have noticed more and more in the collector community's an air of elitism and feel it may well result in these kind of forums dying out eventually because the average bloke will feel excluded. Hope this makes sense and I am not offending anyone.
Cheers, Andy.
