I just found this today and pulled the trigger really unseen close up the maker is Aesculap/Tuttlingen trademark. It was obviously cleaned I am guessing or was faded on a sunny wall not sure is there a way to bring the finish back do you think or just leave it ? I am aware the Luftwaffe is a Frankenstein but had to buy together and I assume based on how it appears to be cleaned then the SA was as well. Any help or thoughts to bring it back would be appreciated.

The scabbard finish is worn down to the metal and just has a glint of color left to it...your better off leaving it untouched in its current state ..or you will depreciate it further if you add to it.

Post photos of the whole dagger when you get a chance outside the case to see the rest of the detail.

Regards Larry

Well I hoping its a good in the end paid a decent price for both in the case which I am thinking is fair price but had not noticed how worn the scabbard was as it was all done over phone and reflection kind of hid it at the time. Still learning and hope I didn't pull trigger to fast and if so another lesson learned I guess. Hope to get some more detailed pics today.

Let it be. You might try putting oil or Vaseline on it which might give it a better appearance. Larry C. is right, better not to touch it to hold the value.

Dev,

If you are going to collect edged weapons, buy a can of Renaissance Wax. Around $18. Superb for cleaning and protecting many surfaces. Used by museums. Look it up.

Dev,

NOT the same stuff. It's a knock-off. Get the Ren Wax.
