Interesting ersatz material frog. It does look like (radiator hose) rubber layered material. Nice find!

I got it foe 50$ did not even know what I had till I got in the car and was going to remove the frog to put on a better bayonet. the frog will not come off and any efforts to try and get it off short of cutting the post that holds it on would destroy it. so I will just keep it and enjoy it. information I got on other forums says that they were only made for the one year it was experimental. one guy stated he has only seen 2 in 40 years of collecting. they made shovel covers and belts out of the same material.

I would also like to add I do not post on here much and I am very grateful to Vern for putting the pictures up for me. if you guys would like to see better pictures I can take more just let me know.
