found in the attic of the company building a couple years ago a large hoarde of medals still in packing. There was some water and environmental damage to some stuff but overall there was some classy material. John at WARBOOTY .COM still has some pieces from the hoarde

Whatever happened to that huge increase in the price of war merit crosses that was supposed to occur? Big Grin

Still the best buy for the new collector by far.

I assume you mean Deschler?
Years ago there was already hoard stuff found and sold to certain parties over in Germany. The most dangerous are original parts to the German Crosse G/S. Shortly later the parts where then completed with some high end copy parts and spread out over the world ...

I found photos of the Deschler hoard on a European forum.
The members there are talking about 70 kilogramms of KVK 1. Thats quiet a lot.

In the old days if such a find came about the dealers would offer them at very reasonable prices to their good customers.. Spread their good fortune of finding them onto the collector. It has happened many times back then.

The price should reflect the availability and with many new mint examples out there now the price if anything should really be even lower than before..

" huge increase in the price of war merit crosses"...
There really shouldn't ever be one!

War Merit Cross 1st cl.,silver, with swords - [Please correct me if i'm way off here]
There were close to a half million of them awarded,,,awarded! , production could have been 2 or even 3 times that!
