From that what i see on this pics a ring that i would like.
Hard to get pattern.
No faults visible for me.
And although its wearing one of the best of this pattern i have seen.

Hi Odal,

many thanks for you opinion. This manufacturer 'Frey' had two types of hallmarks. Small and large as in the photo above.
A large hallmarks is an earlier period IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Best regards,
Sergey

Laurin mark came in 34. The observers badge 35. So this ring is for sure post januar 1935.

Sorry, Odal, but you misunderstood me. I was referring to two different types of "835F. * Ln ". The mark that is above can only be viewed through the magnifying glass, the mark that is below is clearly visible to the naked eye. The mark below, I think of an earlier period IMO.

Now i see you Sergey.
Mmmmh.
In moment impossible for me to date the markings sure.
And there are at least still 2 more styles of markings made by Frey.

I saw this ring on another forum that has the similar markings. I can't make out a LN on it though, but it appears to have a half circle. I'm guessing by the price alone that this ring may have some issues. I am relatively new to Rings, do they copy the 835f* LN pattern a lot?

I also noticed the half circle on the paratrooper ring, is jot exactly a half circle, it's a little misshapen.

I thought it was too, my friend almost purchased it, it's scary how good some of the copies are.

You're right. Copies of these rings are very good. I myself burned on one of these copies ....

Are there any obvious flaws on that one? The price is what made me suspicious, and the mark looked close but just a little off.

He was compared by a well-known collector with his original rings. And his verdict is that it's a copy. He held it in his hands. Believe me, if it was an original ring, it would have been bought a very long time.

I only know that the ring is cast and the sizes with the original are the same

I thought that might be the case I just saw no obvious cast marks from the photos.

Its a decent copy.. but in hand or better photos we would see plenty of problems..
On the outside I see problems with the leafs,,,bigger is - The hallmarks. Even with the small photo you can see they are cast in.. It also helps to know what they are. The last mark [semi circle] is supposed to be a 'Ln' mark.. Early it was stamped in to show the ring was of high quality, hand inspected etc. This one,,,there is just the space,,nothing inside!
