hi robert i am goint to guess as to what this ww1 ribbon with a metal oak leaf represents i think the german soldier who was awarded the medal with the ribbon and this gray colored metal leaf belongs to his award paper it probly fell off the paper award so the soldier sewed it on his ribbon this is my opinion these grey metal leafs i have seen on german ww2 award documents for sports awards hope this helps and im right but this is the best knowledge i have to give you at this time god bless andy militarynut
