I recently bought these sa daggers. My first opinion is that there is a problem with the scabbards. I contacted the seller, but he told me there is no problem with the scabbard where i had questions about. Het told me to check the other scabbard and in my opinion that one is also wrong. Because we have both different opinions i hope that your opinions can solve this out.
In my opinion the first scabbard is a rzm scabbard with a early sa dagger. In my opinion the second scabbard is a repainted rzm nskk scabbard. Thanks in advance.

If somebody needs more pictures, just ask. The first sa daggers ( the first 3 pictures ) is sold to me as a early sa dagger. The second ( with only a picture of the scabbard ) ( last 2 pictures ) is sold to me as a transitional sa dagger.
The first scabbard has a problem with the weight ( see picture ), and is highly magnetic ( see picture ). It also failed the hanging test. For me it's a painted/plated one.The second scabbard you can clearly see the Black paint under the brown paint. Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Hoegaarden

From the photos,

- The first dagger, an early Haenel, has a later RZM-era scabbard.

- The second scabbard is also RZM-era, which includes transitional daggers.

Both have dome headed screws and painted finish.

When testing a scabbard for magnetism, you should only test on the bottom of the lower fitting or on the ring. ALL scabbards will test positive as shown in your pic as there is attraction to the ferrous scabbard beneath the fitting. mike

Thanks Mike for your advice. There was a difference in the magnetism between the early ( first dagger above on the picture ) and the other two. I couldn't lift the early so high. Thanks again. Regards Hoegaarden.

Hoegaarden,

The shells of the early and late scabbards are identical. 2 steel halves braised together. Otherwise,

Early: Nickel silver upper and lower fittings and screws. Lead weight in bottom end of scabbard
Late: Steel upper and lower fittings and screws. No weight
