Lord Ashcroft of VC Collector fame,
has donated ALL 162 Victoria Crosses
from his collection to a new Exhibition
Area at The Imperial War Museum,London
funded by him in its entirety (via a"Trust")
It will open in November 2010.
There will be a History with each winner
to include the only EVER double Award.
Worth a visit when "In Town"

Can I ask what you mean by "The only EVER double award?
3x soldiers were awarded the VC twice (VC & Bar) although only one of those recipients was a combat soldier Charles Upham, the other two were surgeons.

Was quoting the Ashcroft spiel for the
New Exhibit.
I have since been informed by almost
everybody in the WORLD it was/is incorrect.
He (Ashcroft) is after all Chairman of the
Conservative Party,so I guess used to
making "dodgy" comments.Nevertheless
he has taken a lot of stick for his
aggressive aquisition style.The last one I
think cost him Stg1.5mill for a Group.
162 is a lot!!!
