I'd like to know your opinions about this KM dagger; Picts are not the best, but at the moment I have only these.

could you please take the dagger apart and check up, if the parts of the dagger was numbered? On the first glance I can see nothing wrong, but I am not sure about a crossguard. A better pics of the crossguard would be interesting for me.

Hello, I do have exactly the same thoughts Oleg67 has.
Due to the overall patination and the correctness of all other parts it is assumable that the crossguard would also be correct. But it is a sloppy one, commonly not typical for HÖRSTERs.

Joda, Oleg67´s crossguard is, although also patinated, much more well-defined and this is (the oposite of) what I have meant with sloppy.
Here is my HÖRSTER crossguard, also from a dagger with etched trademark (IN GENERAL I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO DISAMLE DAGGERS).
Does the crosguard of the dagger shown by you have any markings?

Please compare the ends and the anchors of the crossguards. And could you please ask an owner of the dagger, if all the parts are matching numbered?

Only a foundamental question: were these daggers dye stamped or cast?
I'm a buckle collector so this question is a must in my field..;)

Not all the makers have numbered the parts of the daggers, but Hörster did it. So all the parts must have a number 40.

Joda, dagger grip parts were mostly cast, scabbards and scabbard parts mostly were stamped.

And... I personally would NOT ask if all parts are numbered (...they might get the number when you ask....), I personally would only ask for "any marks" eg. on the crossguard...

No other components have numbers.. the Only one is the 40 shown in the picture above..

Hello Joda, I have not disassambled all HÖRSTER navies I have seen (as said I do not recommend disassambling of edged weapons). But these I have seen disassamble have had the number at least on the blade, the spring of the blade and the crossguard, sometimes also on the pommel.
Yes, the crossguard was cast and fitted per hand (also sometimes embelished by a ciseleur).
The blade was neither cast nor stamped but drop forged (and mostly etched).

I fully agree with you; I would have never disassembled it; I leave all items I collect without cleaning, repairing or disassembling them.
But it is in my friends' hands ;(

So it looks to be a correct and this way produced KM dagger, just a sloppy production.
