Up for sale is my Type I SS Chained Dagger.

As it says in the thread header this really is an excellent example of a Type I.

I'll start with the grip. Other than a very few slight indentations from normal wear, and a very, very fine hairline crack which is about half an inch in length towards the top rear centre of the grip it is in beautiful condition. (the crack is very fine and hardly noticeable) The runes button is perfect (no loss of enamel whatsoever) as is the eagle which is perfectly set into the grip. The lower cross guard is marked Ho on the rear which I understand to be quite normal for this type of dagger. The fit of the grip into the solid nickle cross guards is 100% right - brilliant fit.

The chained scabbard is a real beauty other than a few indentations to the bottom of the ball. None which spoil the look of the dagger from the front. This must be one of the few daggers left with the original lacquering covering the blued finish - this rates at about 60% coverage. The chain itself has the correct SS stamp to the rear. The Wotans knot has the DRGM marking showing which is correct for the Type I. The spring clip is working as good as it did when it left the factory. The finish on the chain is excellent with no corrosion marks whatsoever. The fit of the neck of the scabbard to the cross guards of the dagger is again perfect.

Now the blade which again, I would describe as excellent. It is un-polished with the factory cross graining being present from the tip of the blade to the cross guards. The only patches that are missing is where the dagger has been taken in and out of it's scabbard. The internal spring of the scabbard have been kind to this blade with no real scratches, just the worn off cross graining. There are a few tiny 'dark' marks under the word Heist and a peculiar part on the edge of the blade (this is about 6mm in length and less than 0.5mm - about one inch from the end of the blade). This is only noticeable in the right light. It looks like the owner drew the dagger a bit too quickly and slightly caught the blade on the scabbard throat. Like I mentioned you have to really look to see this. (I'll bet you can't spot it in the photos?! I have tried catching it on the camera with no success).

So, there you have it. A beautiful example of the rarer Type I SS Chained Dagger.

As you've probably noticed the British pound has dropped a lot against the dollar so this could be a good time to pick up a bargain. I was thinking of $5800 which would include shipping to the US (or any other country).

Have a good look at the photos anyway. If you need more photos please PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send then through.

Thanks for looking.

BTW. Yes, this is the same M36 that is on the WMA forum under my username their of 'tinturkey'.
