Your pictures are quite dark.
But from what I can see, this is an original early HJ-knife by Herman Konejung.

Hello Kurt,
There are quite a bid of variants, when it comes to the script of the HJ motto.
Also blackness and depth of the etching vary between the different makers.
I even have observed different scripts used by the same maker.
The early K�nejung HJ that you showed is fine: motto is the same as on mine by that maker.

I respect the oppinions of all of the commentators above but I have to ask two things.
1. Maybe it's the poor quality photo, but the motto looks like it has been engraved! There seem to be little lines or dots within the etching... Is this just the photo?
2. A more obvious concern is the slanted ricasso. I have an early HJ knife by Herm Konejung, and it has no ricasso at all. The slanted variety I have normally seen on post war knives.

Hi Arminius,
Both versions of the early HJ-blade co-existed (see pic hereunder).
And I have found both versions on single makers, other than K�nejung.
By the way, if the blade buffer would still have been there, you even would not see the thin ricasso of the K�nejung that is shown here.

Well, the blade looks better on your pictures compared to the initial ones. The scabbard is the opposite...
Does the surface of the diamond feels smooth or rough?

Nice hj knife, scabbard looks blued, correct ?
can see a hairliner on the plain grip, blade is in good condition.
