Took a road trip down south stopped a antique store mall and found this helmet. What are your opinions? Real Or Fake? Sorry for the quality of photos, had no place to take them but standing up.

I'm not an expert by any means on these but there are some issues I see- not sure why the decals are behind the vent holes I always thought they were centered and like a quarter inch below. Not sure what model helmet has the metal rivet in the dead center- idk if this is early or German-like model like the Hungarians and Spanish made similar ones. It looks like an m40 but where are the rivets for the liner? It looks like there are a number of attachments securing the liner rim to the shell within the pot. Also the 64 should have a makers stamp next to it like Q64 or something else along with a roll number stamped inside the lid. Too many flags for me, but then I passed up on a good quist shell for peanuts 2 weeks ago so I'm just trigger shy on these. Honestly my gut says its a German modeled helmet made in another country to look like the m40 but it isn't. I could be wrong but there's a thought or two on it for what it's worth. Good luck man, Mike

I guess I was right with my first thought on the helmet when I seen it but just wanted to be sure and get more opinions on the helmet. I am curious to know Andy what your thoughts are on the other two helmets I posted on here of the denazified one and the Luftschutz helmet. The guy that owns the store wasn't sure if they were real or not but he said he had them for a long time. I appreciate all the advice.

My last question on the issue is what do you think the Luftwaffe helmet is worth with it being denazified and having a repro liner. Thanks so much for all the help Andy and Byzanti.

Not sure either, checked other websites but the sell none that are denazified. I didn't buy this one or any of the helmets. The Luftwaffe helmet belongs to a friend that owns a antique store, he is thinking of selling it wanted to know if it was real, and how much if so. I will find out how much he paid for it but already told him that it would not be worth as much since the swaz is not intact. I will let you know how much he would like for it once I see him in the next couple of days. I appreciate the advice, you have been big help.
