Hopefully our Auto Corps experts can tell me if this is legit. I think not, but would like to hear from others.
It was Ebay item, but it was ended and here are the photos.
There is a document with it but too big for me to post now.

Jim,
I've never seen a miniature of this model dagger, but of course that doesn't mean they never existed.
Can you post any other pics of the dagger or doc(s) with it? Was there anything that jumped out at you as patently bad?

Billy, here is the document. The document does not certify the dagger. It only is an announcement of a meeting.
I do not like the grip nor lack of maker or distributor marks. The Aero and Auto corps daggers had ivory grips. This grip is similar to the daggers I see coming out of Russia.
It is just not the quality dagger I would expect.
Has anyone heard of a miniature like this before?

Jim,
You may indeed be right about the dagger's place of origin & this is always a concern to us.
My only thought on the grip construction is that I wouldn't necessarily discount the lack of an ivory grip on a mini. Ivory was still an expensive option back then & might not bave been something utilized on such a miniature. That said, I don't have an alternate item to judge because, like you, I've never seen another.
Did you post it in the Miniature Forum? Maybe they've seen one before.

I was hoping Vic would chime in here.
I keep in mind that the people who wore these daggers were very rich. ie they owned the autos and the planes initially. So I do not think price is such an issue. Similar to the childs Scottish dirks which are sometimes as detailed and complete as the full size.
It is clearly not a dagger I would buy without provenance.

I have never seen or heard of such a miniature, but that certainly doesn't mean they (or one) wasn't created . Even if it's not a production item, a factory worker with some idle time and talent certainly could have constructed it. A very neat piece! What was the asking price? Did it sell?

Gentlemen, I've seen this item before, it was offered to me by a NY collector. I refused because of the price of USD 1500. It showed age when I saw it first, and even w/o an ivory handle it looks acceptable to me. Miniature handles like these are known by collectors, please compare: https://www.weitze.net/militaria/96/Kaiserliche_Marine_Offiziersdolch_als_Miniatur__251996.htmlSize of this one is 18cm/7.1inch, which is quite large. Genuine? I believe so, but of course, when it comes to a certain point it's just a matter of believe. Best; Hermann

The price was $750 and it was pulled for some reason by the seller. The price sounded too good for a rare original. Here is the original listing Aero Corps

Taking a look at the seller's other auctions pertaining to the Aero Corps & Imperial stuff is interesting. I suspect the reason it's no longer listed is someone made a reasonable offer.
