To my knowledge they were made after the Italian surrender but possibly before the German surrender.

Most collectors consider them to be parts daggers made for the troops.

There is always someone who claims to have a period picture of one, but they always refuse to show the photos.

Other opinions are welcome.

This is just my opinion

I did meet a gentleman who had been a member of the Italian Youth. He was a representative for Berretta. He had brought his original uniform and dagger to the show. The uniform looked like a pair of black pajamas, and his knife was a model 32. I asked him about other knives. He knew of none other for the Italian Youth.

Thank you Ted. Why would I be sorry. You have added to the thread.

Here is from the dictionary. "Opera Nazionale Balilla (ONB) was an Italian Fascist youth organization functioning between 1926 and 1937, when it was absorbed into the Gioventù Italiana del Littorio (GIL), a youth section of the National Fascist Party.

It takes its name from Balilla, the nickname of Giovan Battista Perasso, a Genoese boy who, according to local legend, started the revolt of 1746 against the Habsburg forces that occupied the city in the War of the Austrian Succession. Perasso was chosen as the inspiration for his supposed age and revolutionary activity, while his presence in the fight against Austria reflected the irredentist stance taken by early Fascism, and Italy's victories in World War I.

So, if anything, the GIL dagger would be another example.
