Doesn't appear to be any problems with this dagger.
Priced about right, just because it hasn't sold quick doesn't necessarily mean the asking price is too high, only that the right person hasn't seen it yet.
You can wait for a price drop, but of course run the risk of someone else buying it. Also, most sellers don't mind offers so long as they are not insulting. Worse they can do is say no or not reply.

Thanks guys. The only things I'm not sure about, mostly because I'm a noob, is he describes the crossguards as "kept most of their plating", but I dont see any plating...why are the crossguards kinda dull? To me it looks like the plating is completely gone and the base metal is exposed and polished. Dont get me wrong, I think they look better the way they do. Also, he describes 2 cracks in the handle, I see both, the larger (no gap)looks repaired, does that mean it was probably glued or if I loosen the tang nut those pieces would separate?

All in all this is a beautiful dagger, and the price is extremely fair, I'm not trying to discredit it. This would be my first SA/SS dagger and I had a couple prerequisites in my mind. I like the idea of getting a dagger with solid nickel crossguards and a grip still in one piece.

BTW, I did ask Herrman some of these and other questions directly, he sent me a very nice email. I got the impression he stands proudly behind anything he collects or sells.

Plating issues are almost a given with RZM daggers. Often the plating will warp and bubble which looks rather unsightly, here is appears a majority has lifted and come off all together, I can see what plating that remains.
Not much to be done about it, these are metal items 70+ years old and they are what they are. No repairs are feasible, and to replace hardware would just make it a parts dagger and lower its collectible value.
The blade itself is always the main concern, and there appears to be no issues in that regards.

I could see 1 small crack towards the guard, couldn't see the other. Doesn't look extensive but the seller, with the item in hand, would be best suited to answer questions/concerns about the grip.

Gentlemen,

The "lifting" that is describe here, happens on late daggers with the guards made of so called "pot" metal.

The dagger that I sell has guards made of zinc based alloy: with those the plating tends to wear off easily (but it does not lift!). The blue colour of the zinc then becomes visible.

See also pics attached.

Best regards,

Herman

I can vouch for Herman. I bought a SA dagger from him a while ago and I was very impressed with the dagger and how fast he shipped it out to Canada.
He's a seller I'd highly recommend!
