You know it was only these last few years we've been able to relax a little when we came upon a brass ring with a silver wash. 90% of the time they were good..
But, lately,,[maybe just the last few months for sure] a number of counterfeit rings have appeared in brass with a silver wash.
Usual areas they've been coming from is the Baltics,,East Europe and lately Spain!..
I'd love to do a full on show here but just don't have the time and didn't get to save all the photos.. I can tell you that they are definitely out there in more than a couple different patterns.
Just be very careful, no slacking, check everything,,nothing for granted.... ,G.

posting a few of the newer fakes.. this time WestWall fakes.. We all have them or want them. These are pretty dam good. *They will sometimes switch band designs around to confuse so be very careful..
These are pretty good..
This a rare pattern when authentic! :

This one used to be a common pattern, now getting harder to find.
Remember, this is a FAKE, a reproduction,,[the originals never had this band design]..

also, another common pattern ,when real!
These fakes all are probably in sterling silver as the coloring shows.. I'll state here,,I've never seen one of these patterns in any content of silver that I've thought authentic.....
,,Nice lettering, clear designs,,they look pretty good, too good. But, not when next to a great condition original!
So, please members add your good fakes here. And, we got to add on our WestWall topic and eventually I've got to pin it to the top..

Gaspare, thank you for posting the repro Westwall rings.....Most of the rings have a flat design.
Here a Westwall ring I posted a long time ago, about which I don't know if it's original or not ......

I think silver and this band-design (helmet/oak-leaves) in westwall rings is a problem now an sometimes very hard to say wheter from period or not.

I've never seen one of these 4 WW rings
I've posted that I thought to be authentic in silver,,ever!
